Role Description

The developer team is responsible for the technology stack which serves internal and external clients. The Moodle LMS is coupled with a custom-built administration module which is integrated with the Moodle as well as other 3rd party systems.

The Sales Engineer for SADC role can be based in Kempton Park office or home office in Cape Town but they MUST reside in close proximity to the airport about 50kms.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

 

To integrate the knowledge and experience of a Technical Service Representative into the Sales and Marketing activities and tactics of the SADC region (Angola, Botswana,  Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe) by the demonstration of leadership in providing and/or coordinating a complete spectrum of technical services to the customer plant and design engineering interface associated with avoidance and resolution of all problems relating to product quality and performance. The resulting customer relationships are then leveraged to promote client bearings and related products and/or services to selected key customers and to support through technical consultation, various bearing and service business development tactics of specific strategy industries. Developing broader commercial opportunities at both existing and new customer's to ensure that client takes full advantage of these opportunities in order to strengthen customer relationships and grow the business

 

PURPOSE

 

Regional Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force. Regional Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for the company’s products. The Regional Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process and must be able to establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships throughout the sales cycle.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and / or a BSc Mechanical Degree and / or B. Tech (Mechanical); trade papers or exposure to formal workshop training;

  • 4-6 years’ experience in a related Service & Sales function within a manufacturing/industrial industry;

  • Solid market and sales knowledge of the SADC region (A MUST) as well as uncharted countries in the region.

The Sales Engineer for SADC role can be based in Kempton Park office or home office in Cape Town but they MUST reside in close proximity to the airport about 50kms.

 

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

 

To integrate the knowledge and experience of a Technical Service Representative into the Sales and Marketing activities and tactics of the SADC region (Angola, Botswana,  Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe) by the demonstration of leadership in providing and/or coordinating a complete spectrum of technical services to the customer plant and design engineering interface associated with avoidance and resolution of all problems relating to product quality and performance. The resulting customer relationships are then leveraged to promote client bearings and related products and/or services to selected key customers and to support through technical consultation, various bearing and service business development tactics of specific strategy industries. Developing broader commercial opportunities at both existing and new customer's to ensure that client takes full advantage of these opportunities in order to strengthen customer relationships and grow the business

 

PURPOSE

 

Regional Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force. Regional Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for the company’s products. The Regional Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users and must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process and must be able to establish and maintain strong internal and external relationships throughout the sales cycle.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and / or a BSc Mechanical Degree and / or B. Tech (Mechanical); trade papers or exposure to formal workshop training;

  • 4-6 years’ experience in a related Service & Sales function within a manufacturing/industrial industry;

  • Solid market and sales knowledge of the SADC region (A MUST) as well as uncharted countries in the region.

  • Ability to adapt to different countries cultures in the SADC region.

  • Experience in an American multinational company will be helpful.

  • Project / contract management experience

  • Computer literate (MS Office);

  • Maintain the opportunity management project database (CRM);

  • Self-starter and highly motivated;

  • Fluent in English: ability to compose own correspondence in English; (e.g. letters, reports, proposals, quotations);

  • Ability to deliver presentations to customers at all levels in the organisation.

  • Ability & Talent to engage with customers commercial & technical depts.

  • Technical aptitude - ability to read mechanical engineering drawings and suggest application recommendations

  • Valid driver’s licence  – no endorsements;

  • Ability to travel extensively.  Travel 75% of the time in the SADC region - remote areas.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains contact with existing customers to contribute to the maintenance and development of long term relationships;

  • Provides service and sales support to customers to ensure that any issues are actioned effectively;

  • Provides technical solutions to prevent and resolve application performance problems and thereby maximise operational uptime for strategic customers;

  • Develops training programs and provides technical training services to internal and external customers to build knowledge on the application and maintenance of products;

  • Maintains close links with all internal teams to ensure that any changes or issues are actioned effectively (including warranty and quality);

  • Extends range of product or service relationships with major end-use customers to grow revenue;

  • Develops plans and proposals to meet customer needs and achieve revenue objectives;

  • Promotes and presents ideas and proposals to major end-user customers;

  • Promotion of company products aligned with the sales effort;

  • Increased generation of sales through services provided and collaboration with sales team and other areas.

The Sales Engineer roles will mainly look after OEM and some distribution accounts (Pomona based).  For OEM, the main accounts would be conveyors, pumps, gearbox related industry. Some mining equipment accounts as well such as CAT/Hitachi/Komatsu etc.

 

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

  • Implement the Business Plan with defined Sales & Profit objectives together with clear tactics for the market units serving our customers.  Manage Customer relationship at defined Accounts including Engineering, Purchasing, Quality & Manufacturing.  Work closely with Market Units, Engineering & Sales Management to serve customer/ client objectives.  Seek out opportunities for profitable growth using existing & new products and services.

  • Execute field tactics and action plans that are consistent with our business and marketing strategies and which will result in achievement of our sales and profit objectives for the region.   Apply a consultative selling methodology to establish client as a friction management provider who assists strategic distributors and end customers in meeting their own business objectives.   Leverage long standing relationships with these accounts to grow sales and market penetration in the region.

  • Develop, maintain and grow effective customer relationships by maximizing face-to-face time, executing. Develop negotiations skills by participating in customer negotiations; grow ability to develop pricing. Understanding of client value and learn how to leverage this to maximize price and grow and protect business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve Business Plan objectives for the region

  • Identify key market opportunities for client products, and evaluate market potential for the region.

  • Sales Plan Execution: Collaborates with manager to develop customer-based sales plan including sales, won/lost business, pricing plans, new business attainment

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with all authorized distributors and customer personnel. These relationships are critical in defending existing business and gaining access to competitor business

  • Manage Distributors as directed by manager including:

    • Analyzing and Setting annual distributor purchase targets;

    • Set objectives and strategy with distributors to committing to specific action plans;

    • Document all end user accounts, business potential, buying habits and define strategy for profit growth;

    • Provide training support to industrial distributors in areas of basic technical product knowledge, general good maintenance practices and product installation, commercial information on applications, target industries, value selling, etc.

    • Annual Measurement /evaluation of distribution partner performance

  • Extends range of product or service relationships with major end-use customers to grow revenue

  • Develops plans and proposals to meet customer needs and achieve revenue objectives

  • Development and maintenance of records pertaining to distributor relationships, business plans, tracking and measurement of agreed objectives, incentives and supporting action plans

  • Provide monthly sales figures

  • Communicate effectively to client organization regarding internal requirements to meet agreed targets

  • Evaluates competitors’ products and selling/market strategy

  • Through an understanding of customer drivers, builds ability to influence customer decisions pertaining to new solutions, products and prototype applications. Promotes and presents ideas and proposals to major end-user Customers

  • Builds sales competencies in discovering hidden customer needs, representing customer needs, handling objections, etc.

  • Mechanical Engineering and / or a BSc Mechanical degree and / or B. Tech (Mechanical) or country equivalent.

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a related Sales/Engineering function within a manufacturing/industrial industry.

  • Proven history of sales results, successful problem solving and the generation of new opportunities.

  • Solid market and sales knowledge of the region

  • Project / contract management experience will be advantageous

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • SAP & CRM system experience will be advantageous.

  • Proficiency in business English, speaking and written communication.  

  • Fluent in English: ability to compose own correspondence in English. (e.g. letters, reports, proposals, quotations).

  • Experience in an American multinational company will be helpful

  • Flexibility - willingness to travel to 50-75% of the time
